Statue made in the Soviet Union modelled after the Peter the Great (The Bronze Horseman) statue in St. Petersburg (formaly known as Leningrad). Made from aluminium and in great condition. Peter the Great, Peter I or Pyotr Alekséyevich (1672-1725) ruled the Tsardom of Russia and later the Russian Empire from 1682 until his death in 1725, jointly ruling before 1696 with his elder half-brother, Ivan V. Under his reign, Russia was modernised and grew into a European power. The Bronze Horseman statue stands on the Senate Square in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It has opened to the public on 7 (18) August 1782. Commissioned by Catherine the Great, it was created by the French sculptor Étienne Maurice Falconet.
The name comes from an 1833 poem of the same name by Aleksander Pushkin, which is widely considered one of the most significant works of Russian literature. The statue is now one of the symbols of Saint Petersburg.
